I was born and raised in Des Moines and now reside in Grimes, Iowa. I have been involved with art most of my adult life. I studied with Dimitar Krustev, a European schooled artist for seven years. Beginning my studies in oil, I now work primarily in watercolor.
My paintings include landscapes, street scenes and portraits. I have been doing pencil portraiture commercially for years and have done many commissioned paintings and drawings. I have had the privilege of being commissioned to produce the artwork for the World Food Prize posters for 1999, 2000 and 200l. My artwork portrays the Laureates and their accomplishments.
Twelve of my paintings of the Iowa Capitol Grounds Statues have been purchased by the "Friends of Capitol Hill" for permanent display in our State Capitol Building.
My work has been purchased by several Iowa corporations, including Bankers Trust Co., John Deere Credit Services, AMPC and the National Pork Producers Council.
I exhibit with the Iowa Watercolor Society and am a signature member of the organization.
I am fascinated with nature in all forms, and attempt to convey my feeling for natural beauty around me in my art. I am particularly interested in people and their interaction with one another. To capture a subtle nuance in gesture or a fleeting moment in time and share it through my work is my aim as an artist.
